"We are working with many parties to address or reduce what we call the digital talent gap," he said here on Monday.
According to Patria, the government is collaborating with several global tech companies, universities, and communities to provide training and increase the skills of digital talents.
He said Indonesia will need 9 million digital talents by 2030, but currently, their number stands at about 2.5 million.
The government is increasing cooperation with various organizations and establishing digital talent centers (DTCs) to meet the needs of the digital workforce.
The DTCs are currently located in Jakarta, Medan, Cikarang, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Banjarmasin, and Manado.
The government aims to expand the number of DTCs to train digital talents in technological skills such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Patria revealed that the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs received a land asset grant spanning 25,074 square meters for the development of the Cikarang DTC from the Bekasi district government.
He noted that the Cikarang DTC has technology development labs, an auditorium, and accommodation for training participants.
"With its clearer status under the ministry's management, this will help in the development and increase the capacity of the Cikarang DTC in Bekasi to educate our digital talents," he added.
Earlier on January 24, 2025, the ministry said that it has produced 10 thousand digital talents to meet industrial needs within its first 100 working days, in line with efforts to accelerate the national digital transformation.
