Madiun, E Java (ANTARA) - State budget efficiency will not affect funds allocated to social assistance and honorariums for social workers, according to Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf.

"Social workers do not need to worry about budget efficiency. The funds for the people will not be cut; in fact, social assistance may even be increased," he said during a dialogue with social workers in Madiun, East Java, on Friday.

Yusuf assured that honorariums and incentives for social assistants have been planned and budgeted for the current year and that these allocations remain secure.

"Everything has been carefully considered. No one will be harmed. Social workers will still receive their rights because their role is crucial in helping the community," he said.

He stated that efficiency is a positive step toward creating a more effective bureaucracy. He compared efficiency to the process of trimming unnecessary components from a bureaucratic structure.

"This efficiency is actually beneficial. If we compare it to fasting, the longer the fast lasts, the more it can eliminate bureaucratic issues that hinder services," he added.

According to Yusuf, complaints from various parties about budget efficiency are normal, as many are concerned that the government's efforts will affect social assistance and support for social workers.

"If someone complains, that is normal, but we need to adapt for the sake of providing better service to the people," he added.

During the dialogue, which was attended by 457 social workers, Yusuf reiterated their significant role in the field.

"Social workers are an extension of the ministry. Without you, the programs will not run effectively in the field. So stay motivated," he said.
