"We are targeting the placement of 425 thousand migrant workers abroad this year, an increase from the previous 297 thousand people," P2MI Deputy Minister Christina Aryani stated at the Jakarta Job Fair on Wednesday.
The deputy minister believes this target is achievable, given that the global demand for human resources (HR) reached 1.3 million in 2024.
"With cross-sector collaboration, we hope to seize the opportunity," Aryani remarked.
Aryani referenced the popular hashtag #KaburAjaDulu, which encourages people to explore foreign job opportunities. She urged the public to change their perspective by viewing job opportunities abroad as a more profitable and promising option.
The deputy minister expressed hope that with such a change in mindset, more individuals would make the most of job opportunities abroad legally and safely rather than leaving the country without proper arrangements.
She also emphasized the importance of collaboration between various parties in finding solutions to unemployment and low workforce skills.
This approach aligns with Presidential Regulation Number 165 of 2024 concerning the Ministry of P2MI, which consolidates migrant worker affairs under a single ministry to enhance coordination.
"According to the direction of President Prabowo Subianto, collaboration and synergy between ministries and institutions are key. We can optimize various potentials to support the Astacita, especially in increasing quality employment," she revealed.
Furthermore, Aryani called on the public to remain cautious about online job vacancy scams that offer easy and unreasonable terms.
"Foreign job advertisements offering one thousand dollars salary with no requirements and come with a passport are definitely fraud," she stressed.
For official information regarding foreign jobs, Aryani invited the public to check information via the Instagram handle of the Ministry of P2MI or come directly to the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Service Center (BP3MI) DKI Jakarta.
Meanwhile, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is offering two thousand job openings at this job fair, with 40 participating companies, including the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) and the Jakarta Regional Job Training Center (PPKD).
The 40 companies operate across diverse sectors, including insurance, automotive, retail, services, and other service providers.
