Based on the results of an analysis carried out by the ministry, the demand for fish at various consumption centers can be met without any disruptions, he said.
"The analysis was conducted by considering the availability of fish and its needs in each location of the consumption center," he informed during a hearing meeting with Commission IV of the House of Representatives on Thursday.
"The ministry is optimistic that fish availability for Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr is safe to meet community needs," he added.
Trenggono said that fish prices are not expected to increase even though demand usually increases during Ramadan and ahead of Eid al-Fitr. His party will carry out supervision to maintain price stability.
In addition, the ministry has estimated that total fish production will reach 3.06 million tons during the period from January to March 2025. The figure includes 1.59 million tons of farmed fish and 1.47 million tons of captured fish.
Trenggono assured that this will be sufficient to meet the needs of the community during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.
"The ministry has calculated the fish production for January to March 2025 at 3.06 million tons, with details of farmed fish production of 1.59 million tons and captured fish production of 1.47 million tons," he said.
His ministry has identified several locations that are vulnerable to fish shortages during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. The identification was carried out to support the monitoring of fish distribution and ensure stable supply.
The areas include Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, Palembang, Bandar Lampung, Makassar, Ambon, and Banjarmasin. In these locations, the government will ensure sufficient fish supply.
Through these efforts, it is hoped that the community's fish needs can be fulfilled without obstacles, Trenggono said.
