According to Kambu, the free education program is part of the government's efforts to provide opportunities for all people to receive the right education.
"Free education will start from early childhood education, elementary, junior high, and high school, and vocational schools. This is our priority," he said in Sorong on Wednesday.
He informed that the program is part of efforts to address the educational needs in the region.
Kambu said that educational units will not charge school admission and tuition fees.
"And we ensure that this will be implemented in the new academic year," he stressed.
In addition to education, he shared the provincial government's goal to provide affordable and quality health services in all districts and cities of the province.
"This program that we want to realize requires collaboration between districts and provinces to ensure there are specialist doctors in every hospital, which is our goal," Kambu said.
He added that besides the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program initiated by President Prabowo Subianto, efforts to prepare a quality generation in Southwest Papua should begin from the stage of pregnancy, continue through the first nine months of a child’s life and until the age of two.
"We will work together on this and continue to ensure that these programs run optimally in Southwest Papua," he said.
Earlier, a member of the House of Representatives (DPR), Yan Mandenas, expressed the hope that local governments in Papua will remain consistent in allocating a budget for free education.
