He will also report on the plan to end the moratorium on migrant worker placements to Saudi Arabia.
"I would deliver my report on Indonesian migrant workers, including the establishment of migrant workers help desk and the plan to open cooperation (on worker placements) with Saudi Arabia," he informed on Friday.
Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs, Budi Gunawan, has tasked the P2MI Ministry with leading the coordination desk for the protection of Indonesian migrant workers and victims of human trafficking.
The help desk is intended to protect migrant workers by improving the governance of protection, Karding said.
His ministry is also trying to minimize violence against workers, including the risk of human trafficking abroad.
According to Karding, efforts to protect migrant workers can be carried out by ensuring legal departures and placements of migrant workers.
"All steps must be according to the procedure. We found that 95 percent of migrant worker placements are illegal. Second, they must also improve their skills because 80 percent of them are domestic migrant workers," the minister added.
He then listed several efforts made to tighten migrant worker departures, including improving Law Number 18 of 2017 concerning the Protection of Migrant Workers.
In addition, related authorities must improve their service and law enforcement against human trafficking syndicates.
"Followed by my massive socialization for prospective migrant workers to follow the legal procedures, and bilateral agreement to ensure protection for our migrant workers," Karding said.
The Indonesian government is still reviewing the revocation of the moratorium on migrant worker placements in Saudi Arabia.
"We will wait for the moratorium. If it can be opened sooner, the better," the minister said.
