The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) reported that approximately four thousand residents are still unable to return to their homes or have not been relocated to new permanent housing due to the ongoing series of eruptions, which first occurred on November 4 last year.
A total of 250 families have been relocated from refugee shelters to temporary residences, while people from 469 families taking shelter at other locations have been receiving compensation funds from the authorities to address their displacement.
On Thursday (March 20) night at local time, Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki once again erupted, launching volcanic ashes to a height of eight thousand meters above its summit and prompting the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry to raise the danger status from level III to level IV.
The ministry's Geological Agency has warned people to steer clear of the seven-kilometer radius from the volcano's crater.
