KAI Vice President of Public Relations Anne Purba noted in a statement on Tuesday that until March 25 at 6:00 a.m. local time, the company had sold 2,875,895 tickets, accounting for 63 percent of the total capacity provided.
"Of that number, 2,662,757 tickets were for long-distance train trips, with an occupancy rate of 77 percent, while local train ticket sales were recorded at 213,138 tickets, or 19 percent of the total capacity," she remarked.
According to Purba, Pasar Senen Station led in long-distance passenger departures with 117,569 travelers, followed by Gambir Station (44,967), Yogyakarta Station (31,540), Semarang Poncol Station (25,616), and Bekasi Station (23,265).
"This figure reflects the high level of public trust in train transportation as the main choice for homecoming trips," Purba stated.
In meeting customer needs, her side operates 9,656 train trips during the Eid Transportation period, an increase of eight percent compared to last year.
With a capacity of up to 4,591,510 seats, she stated that KAI is committed to providing safe, comfortable, and timely transportation services.
"KAI has also prepared 1,080 extra train trips as an anticipatory measure amid a surge in passengers on various favorite routes. KAI reminds all customers to bring official identification and their tickets for the boarding process," she stated.
Passengers can also use the facial recognition service to authorize their tickets at 21 KAI stations, including Gambir Station, Pasar Senen, Bekasi, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surabaya Gubeng, and others. This technology facilitates a hassle-free boarding process without presenting physical copies or IDs.
"We appreciate the trust placed by the public for choosing KAI as their main transportation mode for Eid homecoming transport," Purba noted.
