"Today, I hosted the British ambassador, discussing the successful cooperation that has been established between the governments of Jakarta and the United Kingdom," Pramono said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He pointed out that stakeholders from the United Kingdom have made significant contributions to the development of transportation infrastructure and facilities in Indonesia's capital city.
In this regard, he mentioned preparations for the use of electric buses and efforts aimed at enhancing the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) train systems.
He emphasized that British stakeholders have played a notable role in Jakarta's journey toward improving its transportation sector, both through investments and transfers of technology.
The former Cabinet secretary then turned attention to the education sector, highlighting that the United Kingdom remains one of the most popular destinations for Indonesians receiving scholarships from the Finance Ministry's Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP).
Considering this, he expressed his administration's eagerness to collaborate with the British government to send more Jakarta residents to the United Kingdom, particularly to hone skills essential for the growth of the digital economy.
Ambassador Jermey lauded the Jakarta government for the meeting while affirming the British government's commitment to strengthening its relations with the capital city, with a special focus on human resource development.
He expressed the hope that more educational institutions and organizations from the United Kingdom will participate in programs designed to improve the quality of human resources in Jakarta, while the city sends more students to his country.
