Head of the BNPB Data, Information, and Disaster Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, announced here on Friday night that his side has set up some service posts in the northern coastal area.
The BNPB team is working alongside joint personnel from the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), the Indonesian Military (TNI), and the National Police (Polri).
The BNPB expressed hope that travelers would utilize these posts, which will offer services such as travel route information, as rest areas, and assistance during tidal flooding, a recurring issue in the Semarang-Demak northern coastal route.
In line with the government's commitment, he ensured that the joint team in the area is ready to provide optimal services to support the safety of travelers during the Eid travel period.
Earlier, a video posted on social media reported traffic congestion along the northern coastal Semarang-Demak route, specifically in Sayung, Demak District, where floodwaters reached depths of 10-40 cm on Thursday night (March 27).
Director of Maritime Meteorology at the Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG), Eko Prasetyo, confirmed on Friday that flooding continued to disrupt the northern coastal route in the Semarang City-Demak District area at least until evening.
Hence, the BMKG advised travelers to cross the northern coastal route, especially Semarang-Demak, before 2 p.m. or after 8 p.m. local time, as tidal flooding typically starts inundating roads between around 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. local time.
