Vice President of Public Relations of KAI Anne Purba in a statement here on Sunday noted that the total capacity available from March 21 to April 11 consists of 3,443,832 seats for long-distance trains and 1,147,678 seats for local trains.
Meanwhile, of the 3,407,630 tickets sold, 3,041,548 were for long-distance train, with an occupancy rate of 88.32 percent, while 366,082 local were for local trains, with an occupancy rate of 31.90 percent.
Since the start of Eid al-Fitr transportation period started on March 21, KAI has served 1,659,954 passengers across its operational areas in Java and Sumatra as of March 29, 2025.
The stations with the highest passenger departures include Pasar Senen Station, Gambir Station, Yogyakarta Station, and Bandung Station.
Purba noted that one of the key concerns among travelers during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming is transporting their pets.
To address this, KAI, through its subsidiary KAI Logistik, is offering a pet transport service for passengers traveling to their hometowns.
"KAI Logistik, through the Kalog Ekspress service, provides a safe and reliable pet delivery service, ensuring that our customers do not have to worry about leaving their pets behind during the homecoming travel period," she remarked.
She emphasized that KAI remains committed to delivering the best services for passengers while also providing innovative and customer-oriented logistics solutions.
The Ministry of Transportation has projected that a total of 146.48 million Indonesians will travel for the 2025 Eid al-Fitr homecoming, reflecting a 24 percent decrease from 193.6 million last year.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs has announced that Eid al-Fitr will begin on Monday, March 31, 2025.
