Prabowo said Indonesia would execute its plan with consent from all parties, including countries actively helping the Palestinians in Gaza.
"The first condition is to gain approval from all parties. Those Palestinians will only be here temporarily until they recover. Once the condition in Gaza is stable, they must return. Therefore, I must consult with leaders of the regions," he remarked.
The president conveyed this during a press conference at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, before departing for Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.
Prabowo explained that he intentionally undertook the visit to the five countries to directly consult with their leaders, as he had been receiving phone calls and envoys inquiring about Indonesia's readiness to assist in addressing the situation in Gaza.
Furthermore, the initiative aimed to respond to the international community's appeal for Indonesia to take a more proactive role, leveraging its status as a non-aligned nation and its position as a country with the world's largest Muslim population.
Regarding the evacuation plan, Prabowo expressed the government's readiness to accommodate approximately one thousand Palestinians from Gaza in the first batch, especially those who are injured, traumatized, and orphaned.
"We are ready to send planes to transport them. We estimate the number will be one thousand people for the first batch," he noted.
However, he stated that the plan would still be discussed with the Palestinian government by sending Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono to meet with his Palestinian counterpart.
To date, Indonesia has provided aid to the Palestinian people in Gaza in the form of food, medical equipment, medicines, clothing, and clean water. This aid has been distributed through El Arish, Egypt, and via airdrop deliveries in collaboration with the Jordanian Air Force.
Indonesia has also deployed its hospital ship, KRI dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat, to dock for several months in El Arish and treat war victims from Gaza.
In addition, Indonesia maintains a medical team in Rafah, Gaza, providing health services at the United Arab Emirates field hospital and its floating hospital in El Arish, Egypt.
"We have also sent a medical team that continues to work in Gaza. The conditions are quite dangerous. The hospital where our team works is often shot at. We are grateful for our soldiers deployed there," the president noted.
Prabowo is traveling to the Middle East aboard the PK-GRD Presidential Aircraft, accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
The plane departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, at around 01:00 local time on Wednesday. The president and his entourage are expected to arrive in Abu Dhabi at around 06:00 local time.
