"Congratulations on winning the super middleweight championship belt for the WBC Continental Asia. I hope this will ignite greater interest among boxing enthusiasts in the country," Ariotedjo said here on Wednesday.
Giesler took the WBC Continental Asia super middleweight title in the 76-kilogram class after defeating Thai boxer Rattakorn Tassaworn at the World Siam Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on March 29, 2025.
Ariotedjo said that the government will support Giesler's future endeavors through the Youth and Sports Ministry's Business Fund Management Agency (LPDUK) after he completes the World Professional Boxing Federation (WPBF) championship in July this year.
With this collaboration, he explained, it would be possible to organize the Holywings Sport Show (HSS) and Byon Combat events at the sports venue used during the Papua National Sports Week in 2021.
Meanwhile, Geisler, who is nicknamed "The King of Papua," said that as a native of Papua, he has represented Indonesia successfully on the international stage, besides other professional Indonesian boxers who also strive to bring honor to the Red-and-White flag.
He said he expects his achievement to encourage the younger generation to continue pursuing the sport and aim for other world accomplishments in the future.
"I hope this can become a motivation for young people in Indonesia, especially in Papua, to have the spirit and determination to advance our boxing," he added.
Giesler said that after winning the WBC Asia championship, he is preparing for the bigger challenge of the WPBF world championship in July.
