"Indonesia is committed to playing a more active role in helping the Palestinian people," Sugiono stated at the meeting, as quoted in his statement.
The Joint Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee series began with a meeting of the foreign ministers of the OIC-Arab League special envoy members, followed by an extended meeting involving partners, including several European countries and members of the UN Security Council.
In his statement, FM Sugiono underscored Indonesia's support for realizing Palestinian independence through the Two-State Solution.
He also expressed Indonesia's readiness to provide medical care for Palestinians affected by war-related injuries and trauma.
He noted that this initiative could only be realized with the collective support of all stakeholders.
In addition to attending the OIC-Arab League meeting, FM Sugiono is in Turkey to accompany President Prabowo Subianto on a series of visits to some Middle East countries.
The Indonesian foreign minister received a mandate at the Extraordinary Summit of the OIC-Arab League on November 11, 2023, as one of the OIC-Arab League special envoys.
One of the mandates of the special envoy is to stop Israeli atrocities in Gaza and restart the political process towards lasting peace.
The OIC-Arab League envoys comprise foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Jordan, Egypt, Palestine, Qatar, Turkey, and Nigeria.
