"For example, the University of Nusa Cendana (Undana) in Kupang and Timor University are located in areas that directly border other countries," Yuliarto noted in a statement here on Thursday.
The minister made the remarks during his working visit to Nusa Cendana University in Kupang and Timor University in North Timor Tengah.
According to Yuliarto, universities in border areas serve as frontliners in advancing the 3T regions.
After inspecting Timor University and Nusa Cendana University, he noted that both universities have made several breakthroughs to improve local communities.
"We are very pleased with Timor University and Nusa Cendana University, as there have been numerous developments aimed at advancing the region," he stated.
Based on the reports he received, several programs will be implemented in synergy and collaboration with other campuses, both state-owned and private.
"These will then be aligned with programs at the ministry, whether research programs or other initiatives that can be developed to have an impact on the surrounding community," he remarked.
Moreover, he encouraged campuses to become the centers for new economic growth, contributing not only to community welfare but also to the local government.
Yuliarto emphasized that in keeping with President Prabowo Subianto's directive, Indonesia must aspire to become a developed nation, with equitable development across the country.
The minister also stated that Indonesia targets to achieve economic growth of eight percent, which must be achieved with ambition, motivation, and mastery of technology to enhance national competitiveness.
