Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has issued 180 press ID cards to journalists from 68 national and international media outlets assigned to cover the ministry's activities.

“This is part of the ministry's transparency step to support quality journalism. With the official press IDs, journalists can access various work facilities at the ministry,” Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid noted in a statement here on Saturday.

The minister highlighted that those accessible facilities include a workspace, internet networks, and other reporting support tools.

Hafid emphasized that this step aligns with the ministry’s policy to strengthen orderly, secure, and professional access to public information.

In addition to distributing the press IDs, the ministry also launched a regular program titled “Ngopi Bareng Wartawan” (Coffee with Journalists), scheduled every Friday.

The program, led on a rotating basis by the minister, deputy minister, or director generals, would serve as an informal discussion forum for sharing strategic information and hearing feedback from the media.

“We want to ensure a consistent communication channel every week to make public information services more effective,” Hafid added.

She explained that the press ID card is not just an access pass to the pressroom but also part of the ministry’s transparency system.

Registered journalists can access information services without administrative barriers, thereby supporting smoother communication between the government and the public.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria stated that the ministry has prepared supporting facilities for journalists, including computers and a research room, to assist their work.

“These facilities will support professional journalism, from research and writing to field reporting,” he stated.
