Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Primary and Secondary Education Ministry (Kemendikdasmen), through the Prosperity Council of Baitut Thalibin Mosque (DKM MBT), conducted Eid al-Adha 1446 Hijri qurban, sacrificing 108 animals under the theme “Kemendikdasmen Spreads Qurban for the Nation.”

In a written statement from Jakarta on Saturday, the ministry stated that the qurban initiative aligns with the directive of Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti, who highlighted Eid al-Adha as a time to strengthen solidarity, social awareness, and exemplary actions from government institutions for the public—especially within Indonesia's education community.

“This program reflects Kemendikdasmen’s social responsibility to the public and also serves as support for national food security,” DKM MBT Chairperson and Special Advisor to the Minister Mariman Darto stated.

Mariman explained that the program involved 21 central work units and 51 regional technical implementation units (UPT), demonstrating how qurban can serve as a practical means of equitable benefit-sharing and strengthening solidarity among citizens.

In addition to providing direct assistance to communities, this year’s qurban also symbolized leadership by example amid ongoing challenges and crises.

As a ministry with the vision of "Quality Education for All," Kemendikdasmen is committed not only to delivering education services but also to setting an example in fostering humanitarian values, compassion, and collective cooperation (gotong royong).

Through the momentum of Eid al-Adha, the ministry hopes the qurban program reinforces the values of togetherness and sharing as a form of the government's concern for spreading blessings and welfare across the archipelago.

In its implementation, Kemendikdasmen distributed a total of 108 sacrificial animals, comprising 82 cattle with a combined weight of over 53.2 tons and 26 goats weighing 780 kilograms.

This year’s qurban is expected to yield approximately 15.7 tons of fresh meat, which will be distributed to around 25 thousand mustahik (eligible recipients) through DKM MBT and the ministry’s regional technical units.

The distribution covered 35 provinces—from Aceh to Papua—with priority given to communities surrounding educational institutions and those in need.
