He welcomed the invitation for President Prabowo to attend the prestigious economic forum as an honored guest.
"First, I commend President Prabowo. The invitation signifies Indonesia's favorable position within the G7," Sera said here on Monday.
He also saw the invitation as a chance for Indonesia to promote the message of South-South Cooperation (SSC), emphasizing that free trade without tariff barriers is highly desirable.
Additionally, he regarded the summit as an opportunity for Indonesia to raise the issue of Palestine and advocate for the immediate implementation of a two-state solution.
Sera further expressed confidence that President Prabowo could use the international platform—which brings together seven of the world’s largest economies—to promote investment opportunities in Indonesia.
"Ultimately, it is an opportunity for President Prabowo to encourage all G7 members to strengthen trade and investment ties with Indonesia," he added.
Earlier on Monday, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, through the Presidential Secretariat, confirmed that President Prabowo had received an official invitation to the G7 Summit, scheduled to take place in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada, in mid-June this year.
"In addition to the official written invitation, President Prabowo’s attendance as a distinguished guest at the G7 Summit was also personally conveyed by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney via a phone call," the Secretariat noted in a statement.
Separately, legislator Dave Laksono said that President Prabowo's presence at the summit would serve as an opportunity for Indonesia to reinforce its role as a key global player.
"President Prabowo’s participation in the G7 Summit is a chance for Indonesia to assert itself as a significant international actor, demonstrate diplomatic capability, and contribute to solving global challenges," he said.
