The two other ministries involved are the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (KemenPPPA) and the Ministry of Manpower, as stated by KP2MI in Jakarta on Thursday (June 12).
"We plan to use the p-to-p (private to private) scheme for the caregivers' placement to Singapore," Deputy Minister of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers, Christina Aryani, stated in an online discussion on Thursday.
Her side has selected five migrant worker placement companies (P3MI) to participate in the placement of skilled migrant workers in Singapore.
The chosen P3MIs have experience in placing domestic migrant workers in Singapore and have demonstrated a good track record, particularly with caregivers.
The P3MI will be matched against migrant worker agencies in Singapore, which are also curated through the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore, Aryani noted.
She also pushed for a shorter placement process, which typically takes three to four months, to be faster for this pilot project.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of PPPA has also submitted a plan for 20 levels of competency training to be completed by 200 prospective migrant workers within two weeks.
"Of the 34 competencies, some 20 will be tested for prospective migrant workers. This is considered sufficient to handle elderly patients, sick or healthy," the ministry's representative, Susan, remarked.
Furthermore, Director General of Training, Vocational, and Productivity Development of the Ministry of Manpower, Agung Nur Rohmad, also responded positively to the cross-ministerial collaboration.
His side would assist in training prospective migrant workers for employment in Singapore.
"We are preparing a training program and certification scheme," he remarked.
In addition, the ministry will draft a cooperation agreement between the training center, the Ministry of P2MI, and the Ministry of PPPA for the pilot project, Rohmad stated.
