Deputy for dissemination and information media at the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), Noudhy Valdryno, delivered the remarks at the “Double Check Discussion” in Jakarta on Saturday.
“A developed country is highly determined by the business component, ideally it (entrepreneurship rate) is 12–15 percent, ours is only at 3.0–3.5 percent,” he said at the event, which was followed online from here.
According to Valdryno, President Prabowo Subianto’s strategy to boost economic growth is based on the fighter jet framework, which prescribes four steps: observe, direct, decide, and act.
He explained that within the framework, the creation and strengthening of MSMEs is one of the main steps for strengthening the national economy.
Valdryno said that the biggest challenge to increasing the number of business players in Indonesia is the quality of human resources.
“In developed countries, one quality human resource can create 10 to 50 new jobs. We need this multiplier effect,” he expounded.
He then emphasized the important role of MSMEs in creating economic independence. Many young graduates today prefer to create their own jobs rather than wait for job vacancies.
He observed that MSMEs have an advantage in terms of their flexibility and ability to adapt to the times, making them different from big corporations that are more static.
“The President wants to create an economic ecosystem where not only big companies create jobs, but MSMEs that level up also can create new competitive entities,” he said.
Valdryno emphasized that Indonesia needs to catch up with neighboring countries like Malaysia, Vietnam, and Thailand, which are now advancing rapidly.
