Director for the Protection of Indonesians, Judha Nugraha, in a written statement on Tuesday, advised Indonesians to follow local authority instructions, limit non-essential travel, and "avoid locations or assets belonging to conflicting countries."
"The Foreign Ministry and Indonesian embassies in the Middle East are closely monitoring the escalation of the conflict involving Israel, the US, and Iran," he added.
Nugraha also urged Indonesians residing in the region to register their presence on the ministry's website and regularly update their information.
For Indonesians traveling through Middle Eastern airspace, Nugraha advised anticipating potential flight disruptions or delays due to airspace closures. "Always confirm flight schedules with your airline," he emphasized.
In case of emergency, Indonesians in the region are encouraged to immediately contact the nearest Indonesian embassy or use the emergency button on the "Safe Travel" application.
The Directorate General for the Protection of Indonesians can also be reached via WhatsApp at +62-812-9007-0027 if needed, Nugraha noted.
Tensions between Israel and Iran escalated into war on June 13, after Israel launched unprovoked airstrikes on Iranian nuclear and military facilities. In response, Tehran initiated counter-offensives.
The situation intensified further when the US military launched strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites on Saturday—an action President Donald Trump described as a "very successful attack."
Tehran retaliated by launching missiles at the US Al Udeid Airbase in Qatar on Monday evening, local time.
Meanwhile, 97 Indonesians—along with a foreign spouse of an Indonesian national—have been evacuated from Iran following Foreign Minister Sugiono’s decision last week to implement the highest level of security measures in areas under the jurisdiction of the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran.
