The discussion was held on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in Beijing, China, on Tuesday.
“We discussed the ongoing war situation in the Middle East and the negative impact on the humanitarian aspect, along with the uncertainty that resulted in the downward trend of the world economy,” she said in a post on her official Instagram account @smindrawati on Wednesday.
According to Indrawati, all parties expressed the hope that the tensions in the Middle East will ease and a peace agreement will be realized soon for the sake of all humanity.
AIIB is a multilateral financial institution for infrastructure funding. Established at the initiative of the Chinese government, it has 110 member countries. Indonesia is one of the founding and member countries of AIIB.
On a separate occasion, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, shared his plan to meet with representatives from state-owned oil company PT Pertamina to discuss the impact of the Iran-Israel conflict on Indonesia’s energy security, especially oil prices.
Lahadalia said that given the dynamics in the Middle East, Indonesia must increase domestic oil and gas lifting to maintain energy security.
Earlier, the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran approved a proposal to close the Strait of Hormuz for all shipping activities.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most important sea routes for global oil exports.
US President Donald Trump had previously announced that a ceasefire would begin at around 4 a.m. GMT, with Iran expected to stop hostilities first to end the 12-day war.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that there was no ceasefire “agreement” between Iran and Israel.
However, Iran would refrain from further retaliatory attacks if Israeli attacks stopped at 4 a.m. Tehran time, he added.
