“BGN will continue distributing MBG meals regardless of the school holiday schedule. The program will operate six days a week, with deliveries made on Mondays and Thursdays, consisting of a combination of ready-to-eat meals and packaged food,” BGN spokesperson Redy Hendra Gunawan stated during an online press briefing on Monday.
He explained that during the holiday period, MBG meal packages include a combination of ready-to-eat meals delivered on Mondays, along with packaged food to be consumed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
“Then on Thursday, we distribute another set of ready-to-eat meals, along with packaged food intended on Friday and Saturday,” he remarked.
The packaged meals contain bread or other carbohydrate sources, eggs, milk, and fruit.
“The packaging we use for distributing meal packages to students during the school holidays is reusable, so it does not pollute the environment,” Gunawan stated.
During the school holiday period, BGN also adjusts the MBG menus to ensure children continue to receive optimal nutrition. The program is also closely monitored by BGN to ensure its effectiveness, efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
Gunawan further emphasized that accelerating the MBG program, which is one of BGN’s targets, is closely tied to developing infrastructure for the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG). Currently, 1,861 SPPG units are operating across the country, serving a total of 5,582,470 beneficiaries.
The BGN urged all SPPG personnel to carry out their duties based on the established standard operating procedures to ensure that the program's benefits can be fully realized and distributed fairly across all levels of society.
