The deceased, identified as Fauzey Bin Awang, 58, was confirmed through the DVI team's medical examination, as well as the victim's wallet and identity card, according to an East Java police officer.
Awang was identified by the police's DVI team on Thursday, along with two other recovered bodies, Head of the East Java Police's Medical and Health Services Adjunct Senior Commissioner, Adam Bimantoro, told journalists.
The two other deceased were identified as Noval Hardiansyah, 15, a resident of Banyuwangi, East Java; and Sofyan Wibowo, 18, a resident of Susukan Sub-district, Banjarnegara, Central Java, he stated.
The fourth body, that of a woman found on Plengkung Beach in the Alas Purwo National Park area, Tegaldlimo Sub-district, Banyuwangi District, East Java, on Thursday, has not yet been identified, Bimantoro remarked.
As of Thursday evening, the ninth day of search operations, the search and rescue command center at Ketapang Port reported that 15 people were confirmed dead in the ferry mishap, 30 had been found alive, and 20 remained missing.
Wahyu Setia Budi, a local SAR coordinator, earlier said that the roll-on/roll-off ferry was carrying 53 passengers, 12 crew members, and 22 vehicles when it departed Ketapang Port in Banyuwangi, East Java, at 10:56 p.m. local time on July 2, 2025.
The vessel sank en route to Gilimanuk Port in Bali at around 11:35 p.m. local time on the same day.
In response to the tragedy, President Prabowo Subianto has instructed all relevant government agencies to make all-out efforts to rescue the remaining passengers and crew of the ill-fated ferry.
