Jakarta (ANTARA) - Commander of the Rapid Action Forces Command (Kopasgat), Air Marshal Deny Muis, confirmed the plan to double the number of Kopasgat Wingsuit troops from the current count.

"We will increase the current number by at least double," he stated in East Jakarta on Friday.

According to Muis, the additional troops will strengthen the Kopasgat Wingsuit troops in fulfilling defense duties.

He also noted that the increase is expected to ensure a continuous renewal of Kopasgat Wingsuit personnel.

His team will implement a strict selection process for soldiers eligible to join the troops. Those who qualify must possess specialized skills, including extensive freefall flight experience.

"We will select the best troops," Muis emphasized.

In addition, his unit will collaborate with international wingsuit athletes to train Kopasgat's Wingsuit troops.

"We will continue to collaborate with athletes or perhaps professionals from abroad," he remarked.

He stressed the importance of training from professionals to sharpen his troops' skills. Training with professional athletes is also expected to enhance the Wingsuit Troops' expertise and flying experience, enabling them to pass on knowledge to upcoming members.

Currently, the Indonesian Air Force's Kopasgat Wingsuit is manned by 10 personnel formed in 2024.

This unit was recently recognized by the Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI) as Indonesia's first wingsuit paratrooper.

With the gradual increase in wingsuit paratroopers, Muis expressed hope that the combat strength of the Indonesian Air Force's Kopasgat will further improve.

The Kopasgat Wingsuit is a special forces unit of the Indonesian Air Force tasked with conducting rapid and silent infiltration missions through the air.

To carry out their missions, they use wingsuit cloaks that allow them to glide and maneuver quickly through the air.

This wingsuit parachuting method enables troops to infiltrate enemy territory silently and land precisely at predetermined points.
