Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto will launch 80 thousand Red and White Village Cooperatives (KMPs) across Indonesia on July 21, 2025, in Bentangan village, Wonosari Sub-district, Klaten District, Central Java, Cooperatives Minister Budi Arie Setiadi said.

“This marks the need for the Red and White Village Cooperatives to operate immediately and provide benefits to the community,” he added during a working visit to Bangka Belitung Islands province on Tuesday.

“The operation of these KMPs will definitely have a direct impact on the community, and prices will certainly be lower,” he added.

He said that the establishment of the KMPs is aimed at bringing business capital and technology closer to villages and sub-districts to stimulate and strengthen the rural economy.

“The capital distribution system for village and sub-district cooperatives will be digital to reduce the temptation to engage in corruption,” he informed.

“Seeing large sums of money on a computer isn’t particularly tempting, but seeing stacks of hundreds of millions of rupiah is certainly more tempting. Therefore, everything must be digital,” he explained.

The KMPs will aim to train people in villages and sub-districts to become entrepreneurs.

“I believe the operation of the KMPs will have a significant impact on national economic growth. Eight percent growth is possible with the implementation of this Red and White Village Cooperatives program,” Setiadi said.
