Ixfan Hendriwintoko, Public Relations Manager at KAI's Jakarta Operational Area 1 (Daop 1), said 1.85 million of those passengers traveled on long-distance trains, while the remainder used the Pangrango train on the Bogor–Sukabumi route.
On average, Daop 1 Jakarta served around 77,145 passengers per day, with 35,075 departing and 36,146 arriving daily at major stations such as Gambir and Pasar Senen.
"This high number of passengers reflects the strong public enthusiasm for rail transport. It is a tangible form of support for sustainable mass transportation, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)," Ixfan said.
On Wednesday, Daop 1 recorded 44,881 long-distance passengers, while the Pangrango train served 3,500 — both figures considered normal.
KAI also announced that starting August 1, ticket prices for the Pangrango train’s economy class will rise from Rp45,000 to Rp55,000, following the launch of its new-generation economy trainsets on July 1.
