Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government is preparing human resources to manage over 80,000 village cooperatives nationwide, according to Manpower Minister Yassierli.

On Thursday, he said that his ministry has designed several training programs for cooperative managers, particularly those managing pilot cooperatives.

"We've already begun the training. Some participants are enrolled in online sessions, while others are attending in-person sessions in Surakarta. The training is ongoing," Yassierli said.

The program is a collaboration between the Ministry of Manpower and the Ministry of Cooperatives.

He noted that the duration of the online and offline training is two and four days, respectively. Graduates will receive competency certificates in cooperative management.

Yassierli emphasized that skilled human resources are essential to the success of the village cooperatives initiative, which is one of the government's priority programs.

"This is a continuing effort. We hope the Ministry of Manpower can provide strong support in terms of human capital," he said.

"Through this, cooperatives can become centers of economic growth in villages and urban neighborhoods — and help address future employment challenges," he added.

The government's Red and White Village Cooperatives program is set to launch on July 21. So far, around 81,000 cooperatives have been established nationwide.

Currently, 103 pilot cooperatives are operating in 103 districts across 38 provinces. The government is finalizing regulations to ensure smooth operations once the program is officially launched.
