Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government is preparing a series of special gifts for the public to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.

Deputy Minister of State Secretary Juri Ardiantoro announced that on August 17, all public transportation services in Jakarta, such as Jaklingko, Transjakarta, LRT, MRT, and KRL (Commuter Line), will offer a special fare of just Rp80.

"So, whatever public transportation you use in Jakarta, the fare will be only Rp80, he said at a press conference for the 2025 Indonesian Independence Month, held at the Presidential Office, Presidential Palace Complex, in Jakarta, on Friday.

Juri explained that the number '8.0' was chosen as a symbol to represent Indonesia's eight decades of independence.

"The number 8.0 was selected to represent the 80th anniversary of Indonesia's independence," he said.

In addition, the public can enjoy special discounts of up to 80 percent during a national shopping discount program running throughout August. The program is an initiative by retail businesses, modern shopping centers, and various merchants to boost public enthusiasm and support the national economy.

"So, there will be national discounts of up to 80 percent, initiated by retail businesses, modern shopping centers, and shopping centers," he added.

As an additional reward, President Prabowo Subianto has also declared Monday, August 18th, a national holiday. The holiday is intended to give public more free time to organize competitions and other creative activities to commemorate the Indonesian Independence Day.

The government hopes this momentum will build a spirit of unity, promote optimism, and encourage creativity to realize a progressive and prosperous Indonesia.
