Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's State Logistics Agency (Bulog) expressed its readiness to send 10 thousand tons of rice aid to Palestine under the coordination of the central government.

"Bulog has readied 10 thousand tons of the best quality rice, bought from farmers in the country. This is a form of solidarity from Indonesians," Deputy Head of Bulog for Jakarta and Banten Rizky Puspitasari Umagaf, noted in a statement here on Tuesday.

This aid is sourced from the Government Rice Reserves (CBP), which Bulog manages.

The provisions for sending food aid abroad are stipulated in Presidential Regulation Number 125 of 2025, which outlines that the use of CBP for aid must be based on official government instruction.

According to Umagaf, the rice to be sent was absorbed in May 2025 and contributes to Bulog's successful absorption of three million tons of rice in the country this year.

"We ensure the quality is excellent because it also reflects Indonesia's good reputation in humanitarian missions," she remarked.

This initiative is part of Indonesia's ongoing food diplomacy and solidarity efforts, following the visit of Palestinian Minister of Agriculture Rezq Basheer Salimia to Indonesia on June 15-17, 2025.

"This aid is not merely about food but also about a message of solidarity. Indonesia wants to demonstrate that we are present for humanity, and Bulog is ready to be the state's partner in making it happen," she stated.

This strategic move is also expected to provide momentum for Indonesia to strengthen its position as an active nation in humanitarian-based global diplomacy.

It is hoped that the aid delivery would be realized soon after all administrative, quality certification, and logistics processes are complete.
