He emphasized that President Prabowo Subianto had designated the transition as a government priority.
"This transition is not merely a regulatory mandate but also reflects the government's political commitment under President Prabowo's leadership," Syafi'i stated in Jakarta on Wednesday (August 13).
He affirmed that the Religious Affairs Ministry is ready to ensure a swift and orderly transition while ensuring service quality for pilgrims remains intact.
The deputy minister underlined that the transfer is part of the president's broader vision for technology-driven, professional, and transparent Hajj services.
Syafi'i remarked that BP Haji is expected to focus on improving Hajj services in line with international standards.
He also remarked that although Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar had initially assigned him to lead the transition team, subsequent changes in the process led to a different arrangement. Nonetheless, he stressed his continued commitment to advancing the process in collaboration with relevant parties.
"The Religious Affairs Ministry will keep coordinating with BP Haji on preparations for the 2026 Hajj season, as mandated by President Prabowo," he stated.
He assured the public that the ongoing transition will not disrupt services, while noting that the government is awaiting the parliament’s passage of a bill that will provide the legal basis for the handover.
Earlier, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi reiterated the government's plan to delegate Hajj and Umrah management responsibilities to BP Haji next year, although the exact timeline could be affected by the ongoing revision of the Hajj Law by the House of Representatives (DPR).
"BP Haji was essentially established to organize the Hajj, but we will consider DPR’s insights to be outlined in the Hajj Bill," he remarked at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on July 11.
