The President wore traditional national attire consisting of an ivory top and matching trousers, paired with a maroon and gold songket cloth. He also wore a black peci (traditional Indonesian cap) and a jasmine garland around his neck.
Before the ceremony, the Indonesian heirloom flag and the Proclamation Text arrived after being paraded from the National Monument to the Merdeka Palace in a carriage.
Seventeen cannon blasts echoed from the National Monument Park, accompanied by a long siren, marking the beginning of the Flag Ceremony at the Merdeka Palace.
The President then read the Proclamation Text, first declared 80 years ago by Proclaimer Soekarno as a sign of Indonesia’s independence.

Before the flag-hoisting ceremony, the Heirloom Flag-Raising Troop (Paskibraka) received the Heritage Flag from President Prabowo.
The tray and flag bearer, Bianca Alessia Christabella Lantang, representing North Sulawesi Province from Lentera Harapan High School in Tomohon, received the flag directly from the President.
The Paskibraka troops then prepared to raise the Red and White flag at the Merdeka Palace.
The theme for the 80th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence is “United and Sovereign, Prosperous People, and Advanced Indonesia.”
This theme reflects the spirit of nationalism that must be preserved as a foundation for moving forward.
Several activities are planned to enliven Independence Day, including the Red and White Flag Parade and the Proclamation Text, the People’s Carnival, and the Independence Carnival.
