Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas has offered scholarships to three student flag raisers in Southwest Papua whose act of solidarity during an Independence Day ceremony went viral online.

Agtas said here Tuesday that he would give the students -- Kristo Dimara, Afgan Sapulete and Frans Beto Kolowa -- access to the ministry's civil service polytechnic program.

"In addition to the scholarship, I will also fulfill their personal request for motorcycles as a token of appreciation for their dedication and bravery," he said.

The trio drew national attention after video footage showed their unity during the 80th Independence Day celebration.

Kristo, positioned in the front row, fainted mid-ceremony. Without hesitation, Afgan and Frans held him up, enabling the flag to be raised as scheduled.

Agtas said he was deeply moved by the moment and contacted the students through the ministry's regional office in West Papua.

"I spoke with them via video call arranged by an official in Sorong. Their strong sense of nationalism touched my heart," he said.

The minister praised their actions as a model of patriotism and expressed hope that they would continue to foster national pride.

"They are extraordinary young Indonesians. Let us all take pride in our shared identity," he said.
