The ministry's head of the human resources development agency, Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto, said in Malang, East Java, on Thursday that the development of digitalization is inseparable from everyday life, including in business.
According to him, the way people carry out transactions, trades, and businesses is ever-changing. Initially, it was in physical shops, but now it is on e-commerce platforms.
"And then, it changes to its third form, social commerce. There's even live commerce. But in the future, it is very personalized again," he said.
He drew attention to social media and communication platforms, which are utilized as promotional, marketing, and transaction methods. Hence, cooperatives must adapt to the technological trend to be able to compete nowadays, Pudjianto noted.
However, digitalization also comes with its own challenges, such as data privacy breaches, which must be anticipated. Thus, his administration is committed to improving the infrastructure and promoting integration and use of technology in Red and White Cooperatives' operations, including financial management.
"The aim is for a more transparent, efficient, accountable process, so there is a more tangible impact," Pudjianto remarked.
The ministry has prepared training for managers of Red and White Cooperatives to ensure that they can provide more efficient and transparent services.
Communication and Digital Affairs Minister Meutya Hafid has stated that as the pilot project, the government has hosted training for 15 of the cooperatives in Malang.
The ministry has also allocated laptops to help with the operational needs of the rural cooperatives. Hafid disclosed plans for digital training, the curriculum of which is formed based on input from cooperatives' managers.
