"We are committed to continuing collaboration between Indonesia and Singapore, especially in the transportation sector," he said at the 60th anniversary commemoration of Singapore, according to a statement on Friday.
Held in Jakarta on Thursday, the event highlighted the close ties between the two countries, founded on geographical proximity, a shared vision, and mutual trust.
This foundation has resulted in strategic cooperation across connectivity, transportation, economic development, and regional stability.
In the transportation sector, Indonesia and Singapore signed a Flight Information Region (FIR) agreement in 2022, which became effective in March 2024.
Currently, 10 Indonesian personnel are stationed at the Singapore Air Traffic Control Center until 2028 as part of civil-military cooperation in air traffic management.
In shipping, cooperation has been strengthened through a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) on Port State Control and Flag State Control signed in October 2023.
The MoC establishes mechanisms for communication and information exchange on ship supervision, detention, and national regulation alignment.
Human resources development cooperation has also expanded, with a memorandum of understanding signed in Bali in February 2025, paving the way for joint maritime training and education programs.
The two countries are active in multilateral forums, including the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
Both nations agreed to support each other’s candidacies for the IMO council, category C, for 2026-2027 to strengthen ASEAN's role as a driver of peace and sustainable development.
Singapore’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Kwok Fook Seng, emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships, noting that each country’s strengths complement the other, enabling them to achieve the best results as equal partners.
