Jakarta (ANTARA) - Women Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Arifah Fauzi stated that health is the key for children to be able to achieve their dreams, and to able to enjoy life through learning and playing.

"Healthy children is the future of a nation. The government wants you all to grow strong, happy, (so you all) have equitable opportunity to achieve dreams. Thus, let's create healthy habit by eating nutritious meal, getting enough rest, physical activities, and do not forget to wash hands," Fauzi confirmed in a statement received here on Monday.

She made the statement during Free Health Checkup (CKG) in Inpres Polder Elementary School, Merauke, South Papua.

According to her, the program, which highlights 'Healthy Person, Healthy People' as its message, is President Prabowo Subianto's initiative to ensure that everyone, from babies to elderly, have the opportunity for free health check up.

With this simple approach, she said, the service is intended not only to treat illnesses but also to prevent them through early detection.

"Free Health Checkup is proof that the state is present for its people. Health checkup is no longer an expensive and (exclusive) thing, but a birthday gift from the state. Everyone, with no exceptions, have the right to be healthy," the minister stressed.

Her administration fully support the program by promoting, coordinating, assisting, and monitoring the progress of the initiative, both on regional and national scale.

She stated that in South Papua, some 36 thousand people across four districts, being Merauke, Asmat, Mappi, and Boven Digoel, have undergone the health check up.

According to data from Health Ministry, as per August 22, 2025, a total of 20 million Indonesians across 38 provinces and 510 cities and districts have partaken in the program.

On average, every day there are 340 thousand people who had their health checked since the program kicked off on February 2025. Of the 20 million people, 682,602 were students ranging from elementary school students to high schoolers.

Health Ministry's head of communication and public information Aji Muhawarman said on Saturday (Aug. 23) that CKG gives insight to most prevalent health issues across age groups.

"Public participation shows awareness that grew regarding the importance of routine health checkup, whether for prevention or early detection," Muhawarman noted.
