Depok, West Java (ANTARA) - The National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) aims to raise public awareness of the importance of information security to ensure a safe and trustworthy digital ecosystem.

For this purpose, the agency is hosting the July–August Cyber Security Awareness program, known as Julia Ceria.

“Cybersecurity is a highly risky issue. We have zero tolerance for breaches,” Head of BSSN Nugroho Sulistyo Budi said in Depok, West Java, on Thursday.

Budi explained that Julia Ceria features a series of educational activities, including seminars, webinars, campaigns, and competitions, designed to boost public awareness of cybersecurity. He also stressed that all BSSN personnel must lead by example in demonstrating strong cybersecurity awareness.

Previously, BSSN Deputy for Cybersecurity, Government Crypto, and Human Development, Sulistyo, highlighted that personal data continues to be a prime target in breach cases, with Indonesia seeing a rise in cybersecurity incidents.

He outlined three main strategies to strengthen data protection. First, organizations should implement consistent monitoring to detect vulnerabilities before they are exploited.

“Consistent monitoring helps organizations identify risks early. This is the key aspect of vulnerability management,” he said.

For sustainable monitoring and analysis of infrastructure, system, and information technology, he suggested each organization to form or involve Cyber Response Team.

Second, organizations are encouraged to regularly test their cybersecurity systems and adopt global standards such as ISO 27001 and encryption practices to protect personal data.

Third, collaboration and information sharing across industries and government institutions are critical to countering cyberattacks effectively.

Sulistyo emphasized that BSSN continues to play a vital role in safeguarding personal data through policies and regulations, monitoring and audits, capacity building, incident response, national collaboration, and infrastructure development.
