Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Manpower said Indonesia’s participation in the WorldSkills ASEAN Competition 2025 in Manila, the Philippines, serves as a platform to strengthen competitiveness at both regional and international levels.

“Indonesia’s presence at the WorldSkills ASEAN Competition 2025 is expected to further enhance the competitiveness of young talents on the regional and global stage,” said Director General of Vocational Training and Productivity Development at the Ministry of Manpower, Agung Nur Rohmad, in Jakarta on Friday.

Entering the third day of the 14th WorldSkills ASEAN Competition, Agung said the Indonesian delegation continued to demonstrate strong performance in Southeast Asia’s largest skills competition.

The event, held from August 26 to 28, 2025, brought together 258 young talents from 10 ASEAN countries competing in 32 skill categories.

Agung, who also serves as Head of the Indonesian Delegation, expressed appreciation for the dedication of competitors and experts who have worked hard, while also extending gratitude for the full support from the government, businesses, and industries.

He added that the Indonesian team performed with high fighting spirit under the theme “Indonesia Forward, Excellence in Competence.”

“Our competitors are confident, disciplined, and showcasing their best abilities before international experts,” Agung said.

The Indonesian delegation is competing in 19 key skill areas, including automobile technology, cybersecurity, collaborative robotics, electronics, fashion technology, graphic design technology, hairdressing, hotel reception, restaurant service, and refrigeration and air conditioning.

Other fields include industrial automation, industrial control, Industry 4.0, Internet of Things, IT network systems administration, IT software solutions for business, mechanical engineering CAD, mechatronics, and web technology.

“These areas represent priority sectors aligned with the needs of both national and global industries,” Agung added.
