Kadin Chairman Anindya Bakrie met with Indian Ambassador Sandeep Chakravorty in Jakarta on Thursday to accelerate this target.
“The goal is to reach US$50 billion in the near future,” Bakrie said in a press statement received here on Friday.
Currently, trade between the two countries totals around US$30 billion, with Indonesia’s exports valued at US$23 billion and imports at US$7 billion.

Ambassador Chakravorty noted that the main challenge lies in turning the strong diplomatic relationship into tangible economic activities that create jobs and improve welfare.
In today’s climate of global geopolitical uncertainty, he emphasized that strengthening cooperation is more important than ever.
“India has a population of 1.4 billion, Indonesia has nearly 300 million... We should leverage each other’s markets, rather than relying solely on traditional markets,” he said.
The initiative is part of Kadin’s broader strategy to tap into US$145 billion in unrealized export potential for Indonesian products, including palm oil derivatives, automotive components, and electrical equipment.
