"In response to the disaster, a quick response team from the South Halmahera BPBD has reached the affected areas," Head of the BNPB Data, Information, and Disaster Communication Center Abdul Muhari stated in Jakarta on Friday.
He noted that the BPBD team would immediately distribute basic necessities and emergency supplies to residents following the flooding, which impacted 150 families and inundated at least 150 homes.
The flooding was triggered by continuous torrential rain that had poured over the district since Wednesday (August 27), resulting in floodwaters reaching up to 60 centimeters deep.
"The water has begun receding, and no fatalities have been recorded," Muhari added, while urging locals to remain alert to the possibility of further heavy rain.
