Samarinda (ANTARA) - The East Kalimantan provincial government has received a visit from Indonesian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Kazakhstan, M. Fadjroel Rachman, to discuss opportunities for international cooperation in trade, investment, and tourism with Kazakhstan.

Ujang Rachmad, Assistant for Economic Affairs and Development Administration at the provincial secretariat, stated in Samarinda on Friday that Kazakhstan needs several key commodities from East Kalimantan, including palm oil, cocoa, and rubber, as well as marine and fishery products.

Furthermore, the tourism sector could become a major gateway for promoting East Kalimantan's culture and natural attractions in the Central Asian region.

"We hope for concrete trade relations between East Kalimantan and Kazakhstan. Our products are competitive; we just need to match their market needs," Rachmad said during an audience with Ambassador Rachman.

During the visit, the Ambassador was accompanied by Coordinator of Political, Economic, and Digital Affairs Gustaf Daud Sirait, and Secretary to the Ambassador, Andi Zulkarnain.

As a concrete step, the provincial government will hold an Investment Forum and one-on-one business matching sessions between East Kalimantan entrepreneurs and Kazakh investors.

East Kalimantan will also open a special pavilion at the Indonesia Trade Expo in Jakarta. At the pavilion, local entrepreneurs will meet potential partners from Kazakhstan to strengthen business-to-business (B2B) cooperation.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Rachman emphasized his commitment to bridging East Kalimantan with investors from the Central Asian region.

He had previously visited East Kalimantan with investors. The latest meeting aimed to outline concrete steps to ensure that investments materialize quickly.

According to him, East Kalimantan's enormous potential in trade, energy, and tourism needs to be promoted more aggressively to penetrate the international market.
