“The destruction and arson of the Grahadi Building is deeply regrettable. Those responsible must be held accountable under the law,” Yudhoyono said after meeting President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace.
He again warned that such acts of violence could harm Indonesia’s economy and investment climate.
“Prolonged unrest can undermine public trust and deter investors. Stability is key to economic growth,” he added.
Yudhoyono drew a clear line between peaceful protests and violent actions, emphasizing that while peaceful demonstrations are a democratic right, violence threatens public safety and national interests.

He also raised concerns over the damage to public infrastructure caused by the riots. He pledged to report the incident to the Ministers of Public Works and Transportation to expedite repairs.
“Restoration must begin immediately to prevent further disruption,” he said.
Yudhoyono urged law enforcement to remain professional and exercise restraint in handling mass demonstrations, stressing the importance of patience in volatile situations.
“Crowds are difficult to manage, but professionalism and calm responses are essential,” he noted.
He concluded with a call for unity, urging all parties to prevent further damage—economically, socially, and physically.
“Let’s not allow this unrest to become a long-term burden. Together, we must protect this nation,” Yudhoyono said.
