Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati expressed regret and conveyed commitment to evaluate and improve performance after her residence was looted by unidentified mob on Sunday (August 31).

"We apologize, there are certainly still many shortcomings. We will continue to improve," she wrote on her Instagram account @smindrawati on Monday.

She understood that building the country is a difficult task, and often challenging, as experienced by our nation's predecessors.

She also acknowledged that politics is a shared struggle for the nation's noble collective goals, while maintaining high ethics and morality.

"As a state official, I was sworn to uphold the 1945 Constitution and all laws. This is not a matter of personal preference. The laws were drafted with the involvement of the Government, the House of Representatives (DPR), the Regional Representatives Council (DPD), and public participation openly and transparently," Indrawati continued.

She also reminded that any indications of violations that cause public dissatisfaction can be brought to court, the Supreme Court (MA), and even to the Constitutional Court (MK).

In her post, she also stated that state duties must be carried out with trust, honesty, integrity, propriety, professionalism, transparency, accountability, and no corruption.

"This is an honor and an incredibly noble task. It is not easy and is very complex, requiring wisdom -- empathy, and sensitivity to listen to and understand the voices of the people. This is related to the fate of the Indonesian people and the future of the Indonesian nation," she added.

In the same occasion, the minister thanked the public for their continued input as Minister of Finance, as well as their sympathy and moral support in facing this situation.

"Thank you to the entire public, including netizens, teachers, lecturers, students, the mass media, MSMEs, cooperatives, large businesses, and all stakeholders who provide input, criticism, satire, even insults, as well as advice. This is part of the process of building Indonesia," she remarked.

She urged the public to protect each other and jointly build the country, by refraining from violence and betraying the public's feelings.

"May Allah bless and protect Indonesia," she concluded.
