Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) reaffirmed their commitment to taking firm action against anarchic acts, in accordance with existing legal procedures and with full respect for human rights.

“We guarantee that our actions will be professional, measured, and in line with applicable laws, while upholding human rights,” said Deputy Chief of the National Police, Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo, in Jakarta on Monday.

Dedi explained that the deployment of Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and police personnel in the field reflects both institutions’ firm stance on maintaining peace and security nationwide.

“Our primary goal is a swift and comprehensive restoration of public order. Through routine patrols, persuasive public appeals, and the full support of all layers of society, we are confident the situation will quickly return to normal and remain conducive,” he added.

He also urged the public to remain calm and not be swayed by provocations or misinformation that could spark panic.

The three-star general called on all segments of society to work in synergy with the TNI and Polri in safeguarding their respective communities.

“Effective communication between the public and security personnel will break the chain of crime and help foster a sense of security,” he said.

“The community serves as our eyes and ears. Please report any suspicious activity or potential disturbances to local police officers, sub-precincts, or precinct headquarters,” he added.

Earlier, President Prabowo Subianto instructed National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto to take firm action in response to recent anarchic demonstrations in several regions.

“The President’s directive is clear: in response to anarchic acts, the TNI and Polri are to take firm action in accordance with the law,” said General Listyo Sigit.

He emphasized that all law enforcement measures would be carried out proportionately to ensure public order is swiftly restored.

“All these efforts are for the greater good of the public and to safeguard national stability," he said.
