Jakarta (ANTARA) -

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is preparing targeted assistance for victims of recent violent protests, including both civilians and injured law enforcement officers, Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf said.

“The President is giving special attention, not just in Jakarta but also in other regions like Makassar,” Yusuf, also known as Gus Ipul, said at the Presidential Palace Complex here Monday.

"He's concerned for all victims—civilians and police officers—some of whom were seriously injured," he added.

The aid would be tailored to each victim based on ongoing data collection and assessments, with follow-up handled by relevant ministries and agencies, Yusuf said.

Forms of support could include school fees for family members, housing repairs or reconstruction, and other social assistance depending on each victim’s condition.

Medical costs for the injured and compensation for families of the deceased will also be covered.

“There will be medical assistance. For families who lost loved ones, there will be help with housing and other basic needs,” Yusuf said.

He emphasized that all victims, including public servants and civilians, will be supported according to their needs.

“The President will make sure that everyone affected receives proper assistance,” he said.

As for funding, Yusuf said the aid could come from multiple sources, including the state budget (APBN), the private sector, and direct contributions from President Prabowo himself.

“Of course, some of the funds will come from the APBN. Many private donors will help as well. But the President will also provide special attention, and we’ll see what form that takes,” he said.

The demonstrations, triggered by dissatisfaction over lawmakers' housing allowance, have turned violent in several cities, leading to injuries and property damage.
