All community needs are being handled collaboratively by central and regional governments, along with various partners, before we proceed to full-scale rehabilitation and reconstruction,
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) confirmed that floodwaters in Bali have fully receded, shifting the government’s focus to rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts.

“There is no more standing water in Bali,” BNPB Head Suharyanto said in a statement here on Friday (September 12).

He reported that 185 evacuees from all affected areas are now able to return home as conditions improve.

A joint task force continues to accelerate recovery, ensure survivors’ needs are met, and search for victims still reported missing.

According to the Bali Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), as of Friday evening, the floods had claimed 17 lives, while five people remain missing.

“The search for missing victims will continue. The golden timeframe is six to seven days. All community needs are being handled collaboratively by central and regional governments, along with various partners, before we proceed to full-scale rehabilitation and reconstruction,” Suharyanto said.

President Prabowo Subianto has instructed the government to speed up recovery, a directive reflected in Vice President Gibran Rakabuming’s visit to evacuation posts on Friday afternoon.

Gibran visited shelters in Banjar Tohpati and Banjar Sedana Mertha, Denpasar City, to encourage residents and assure them that damaged homes and shops would be repaired through joint efforts between government institutions and local stakeholders.

He also paid respects at the home of a deceased victim and inspected Badung Market, which remains in the process of clearing residual floodwaters.

During the cleanup, two cars and 43 motorcycles were recovered from the market’s parking lot, which had been submerged under nearly two meters of water.

The disaster struck after Bali was drenched by more than 24 hours of heavy rain beginning Tuesday (September 9). On September 10, BPBD recorded flooding and landslides across 123 locations in seven districts and cities: Denpasar, Badung, Gianyar, Tabanan, Klungkung, Karangasem, and Jembrana.
