“We found one 12-kg gas cylinder and three 5-kg gas cylinders,” Commissioner Heriyandi, head of the metallurgy research sub-directorate at Puslabfor, stated here on Friday.
Investigators also recovered a gas regulator set and a stove from the site.
The items will be examined to determine their connection to the blast, he added, stressing that the forensic probe is still ongoing.
The Jakarta Metropolitan Police Mobile Corps, which deployed bomb disposal and chemical-handling units, reported finding no evidence of other explosive materials.
Senior Commissioner Henik Maryanto, one of the Mobile Corps unit commanders, said the explosion may have been triggered by a gas leak, with signs of gas accumulation in an enclosed space that could ignite from a spark.
South Tangerang Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Victor Inkiriwang confirmed that eight houses were affected—four severely and four with minor damage.
The blast also left seven residents injured, including three with serious wounds who remain hospitalized. Four others received outpatient care after initial treatment.
"Three victims are currently receiving treatment at a hospital, while four others have completed initial treatment and have been allowed to undergo outpatient care," Inkiriwang said.
Inkiriwang said the explosion occurred between 5:15 and 5:30 a.m. local time and had an impact radius of about 500 meters.
“Its exact cause has not yet been determined,” he noted.
