“We are ready to take part in the journey toward peace. We are willing to provide forces,” Prabowo asserted at the High-Level Conference on Palestine and the Two-State Solution at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on Monday.
Indonesia’s readiness to send peacekeepers aligns with the recently adopted New York Declaration, passed by the UN General Assembly on September 12, 2025.
The document outlines several shared commitments, including the recognition of Palestine as an independent and sovereign state, an immediate ceasefire and disarmament, and unhindered access for humanitarian aid to enter Gaza.
The declaration was endorsed by 142 UN member states, who also agreed on the proposal to establish an international mission under the UN Security Council’s mandate to help restore security and stability in Gaza.
In his speech, Prabowo urged all UN member states to immediately recognize Palestine and uphold the two-state solution as the only path to lasting peace.
“To those who have yet to act, we say: history does not stand still. We must recognize Palestine now. We must stop the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza; ending the war must be our utmost priority. We must overcome hatred, fear, and suspicion. We must achieve peace,” he stated.
President Prabowo also praised the decisions by countries such as France, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Portugal, and many other leading countries of the world that have officially recognized Palestine as a sovereign state.
“The recognition of the State of Palestine is the right step on the right side of history,” he emphasized.
The High-Level Conference on Palestine and the Two-State Solution was co-initiated by France and Saudi Arabia, represented respectively by French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. The event is part of the broader agenda of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
