Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta deployed 8,340 joint security personnel on Wednesday to secure demonstrations staged by farmers and community groups demanding agrarian reform at several locations across the capital.

Central Jakarta Police Chief Senior Commissioner Susatyo Purnomo Condro said the personnel were stationed in strategic areas, including the Parliament Complex, the National Monument, and government buildings.

He stressed that the deployment aimed to facilitate the delivery of public aspirations, with security measures carried out in a humane manner and without the use of firearms.

Condro called on protesters to remain peaceful and avoid disruptive actions such as burning tires, damaging public facilities, or blocking roads.

"Please make use of your right to free expression, but do so within the boundaries of law and order. Our role is to ensure everything proceeds safely and smoothly," he said.

Police also prepared traffic diversion plans and advised residents to avoid the parliamentary complex during the rallies, recommending alternative routes to maintain mobility.

Condro further reminded the public not to be swayed by misinformation on social media.

"We ask for the public's cooperation. The safety and comfort of everyone remain our top priority," he added.
