The status was lifted with the issuance of the Statement Letter on the Termination of Emergency Alert Status for Forest and Land Fires Number 300.2/01951/BPBD/2025, signed by South Kalimantan Regional Secretary Muhammad Syarifuddin on September 30, 2025.
"Based on evaluation and data from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), as well as the actual conditions, the South Kalimantan Government declared that the forest and land fire emergency alert status was officially lifted on September 30, 2025," Syarifuddin confirmed here on Wednesday.
According to him, the decision was taken after an evaluation meeting and instruction from the South Kalimantan Governor dated September 26, 2025.
He explained that one of the considerations for lifting the status was information from the BMKG, which stated that the rainy season had arrived in the province since September with normal to above-normal rainfall.
The Forest and Land Fire Task Force has also reported that the soil is starting to moisten due to consistent rainfall.
Even though the status has been lifted, he emphasized that the government remains vigilant for forest and land fire potential, adding that monitoring and cross-sectoral coordination continue to be carried out.
"We encourage the community to remain alert and protect the environment to jointly prevent forest and land fires," he remarked.
Earlier, the South Kalimantan Government implemented the emergency alert status on August 4, following an increase in hotspots in several districts and cities due to the dry season that began in June 2025.
In the province, regions with relatively high forest and land fire cases include Banjar, Barito Kuala, Tapin, Banjarbaru, and South Hulu Sungai.
